Dear teachers, students, alumni and friends:

As the Chinese New Year is approaching, on behalf of College of Business, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, I’d like to extend our highest regard and heartfelt appreciation to all of you for your selfless dedication and great support to the development of the education undertaking in our college in the past year!

2017 was a fruitful year with extraordinary significance; 2018 is close at hand with great inspiration. Standing at this exciting historical juncture, we would like to pay tribute to the courageous pioneers of various undertakings with relentless efforts in the new era with four groups of phrases.

Firstly, anniversary, school history and alumni. On the eve of the anniversary celebration, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) ushered in the 100th anniversary since the establishment. During the celebration, more than 18,000 alumni returned to the alma mater to celebrate her birthday and revisit the spiritual trajectory of SUFE people and jointly build the dream home.

Secondly, business science, business undertaking and businessmen. In 2017, China's first business museum was completed at Guoding Road Campus of SUFE. The Business Museum not only serves for school talent training and scientific research, but is also running in an open door way. Facing the new era, College of Business will focus the ideological and political work on "Entrepreneurship" and integrate it into all aspects of personnel training. It is expected that the merchants we nurture will not only be leaders in the market economy, but also be great entrepreneurs with theoretical knowledge of business science, commercial innovation quality and humanistic care spirit.

Thirdly, assets, capital and resources. In 2017, with the grand opening of the 19th CPC National Congress, upon the transformation of major social contradictions, we further returned to the essence of education under the philosophy and framework of comprehensive management of business school; we transformed the backward consumption habits and advocated minimalism for a more beautiful life; we tamed the fierce beast of profit and guided surging capital to serve the social development in a more benign manner; we promoted the sharing of resources and equitable distribution so as to bring the benefits of social progress to every contributor.

Fourthly, co-construction, co-governance and sharing. In 2017, College of Business achieved the international accreditation from AACSB and entered the ranks of top business schools in the world, which was "Co-construction". All stakeholders jointly enhanced the level of comprehensive governance with College of Business, which was "Co-governance". Although the 100th anniversary celebration has ended, the "COB Destiny Community" formed by various stakeholders will always be the solid backing of each other and the "Sharing" of achievements and glory has just begun.

I hope that in 2018 we will base ourselves on the new era, face the new century, focus on globalization, strengthen morality and nurture talent to create "Double First-class" and shoulder more historical responsibilities, remaining true to our original aspiration and forging ahead despite any difficulties with great courage and relentless efforts!
