June 30 and July 1,,2019，COB Forum& the 7th Annual Conference of CMSW 2019 was held in the multi-function hall of Wisdom Hotel Shanghai. The annual conference attracted more than 100 young teachers and graduate students from universities and research institutions across the country. Prof. Xinyuan Chen, Vice President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Prof. Fuqiang Zhang, Dean of College of Business attended and delivered a speech. Professor Xiaogang He, Deputy Dean of College of Business, presided over the annual conference.

Professor Youmin Xi, President of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, delivered a keynote speech entitled Management in My Heart-Belief, Theory and Practice. From the perspective of management practitioners, Professor Xi showed the guests his understanding and summary in the past decades of research, practice and teaching process and finally built a harmonious theory framework combining Chinese and Western wisdom. At last, Professor Xi also told the guests about the design of education system and practical insights of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

Mingzhe Chen, the professor at the University of Virginia, delivered a keynote speech entitled Excellence in the Process of Academic Entrepreneurship. Professor Chen first shared the comparative advantages of eastern and western management, as well as the knowledge and practice of the Chinese wisdom he recognized. Professor Chen’s interactive lecture with the guests aroused a warm response from the scholars present.

In the afternoon, four distinguished guests from academic and business circles respectively gave keynote speeches on Research and Practice of Chinese Enterprise Management. Yangfeng Cao, Dean of Hong Kong Innovation and Entrepreneurship School, delivered a speech on the theme of V+model: Enterprise Transformation and Strategy in the Digital Age. He proposed that artificial intelligence and digitization will change the enterprise development model and direction.

Haiqin Xie, general manager of Haier Digital Technology (Shanghai) Co., LTD., delivered a speech entitled Co-building and Sharing Industrial Internet Platform: transformation and upgrading of COSMOplat enabling enterprises.

Professor Xiaogang He from COB of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics delivered a speech on the theme of the Integration of Knowledge and Practice: Mutual Development of Management Research and Practice. Professor He proposed the creation-spread-use model of management knowledge and showed that the most important aspect missing from the academic world was practice.

Jing Dong, professor from COB of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, shared the team’s latest research findings on Clan Network and Enterprise Innovation: Synergy and Balance of Previous Experience of Rural Entrepreneurs. At the end, Professor Dong also introduced entrepreneurial life cycle management based on the Book of Changes.   

On the morning of July 1, 2019，Professor Mingzhe Chen and Director Gang Liu of China Architecture Design and Research Institute gave a keynote speech on Chinese Wisdom and Management. Director Liu showed the wisdom of China to the guests and explained the revelatory value of Zhong in Chinese management philosophy.

The part of What Can Management Learn from Society was hosted by Xiangyang Zhao, a professor from Beijing Normal University. In this session, Jinqing Cao, a professor in the field of sociology from East China University of Science and Technology, Wei Han, a professor from Shenzhen University, Xuewei Zhai, a professor from Nanjing University and Yi Han, a professor from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics made a keynote speech on the topic.

At last, Professor Mingzhe Chen summarized the annual conference and held the handover ceremony. The 8th CMSW will be hosted by Lanzhou University.
