IMBA--Organizational Behavior with International Style

Ready to Make Organizations Work,
As China Grows into a Corporate Player

While corporations all over the globe are expanding, contracting, or looking for new directions; these organizations contain real people who have to make decisions, tell the news, put people in teams and make the process work. From the Shanghai point of view, the nature of organizations is more important than ever. Consider what Lenovo had to do with the change over from IBM and even as we write, Shuanghui International Holdings Ltd. is working on tasty deals in China at the exchanges and in restaurants and homes across the country. They bought Smithfield Meat for $7.1 billion.

Dr. Fred Heismeyer, meanwhile, is putting his MBA students into small groups to think about and strategize the new styles and approaches of leadership needed for these kinds of global changes. Moving money around is the operation of two other classes, Finance and Advanced Corporate Finance, but leadership and organizations are needed to keep these operations going.

Dr. Heismeyer has regularly organized his class into small groups so that individuals can speak and listen to others .

Learning through interactions. Learning through analysis. Learning through experience.

“In the Organizational Behavior course, we use leadership as a foundation for studying how organizations work,” said Prof. Heismeyer, and of course, “leaders have to have followers, to carry out the task at hand.”

Fun is an essential part of motivation. In this class we hope students work together and laugh together.
(l. to r.) Yin Zheyuan, Hu Pengbo, Fan Yujie

“Working in small groups is an essential part of the learning experience in this graduate class, but just as important, students are conducting self-examination of their own values, assumptions, beliefs and expectations.”

An international program means international perspectives.
Today's business demands a global look at organizational structures.
(l. to r.) Wang Xiaoyan, Yuan Fang, Djeferson Parizotto

Dr. Heismeyer has taught for Webster University/Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Joint Program several times over the last 10 years. His current course is operating from October to December, 2013.
