On May 14th, the signing ceremony for tripartite construction of SUFE was held in Shanghai. Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and Shanghai Municipal Government were involved in the tripartite construction. Minister of Education Guiren Yuan, Vice-Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government Zheng Han, and Vice-Minister of Finance Shaochun Zhang attended the signing ceremony on behalf of the three parties and delivered the speech.
Minister Guiren Yuan expressed sincere thanks to Ministry of Finance, Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government for their longstanding support to education development. At present, the higher education front is implementing the essential spirit of President Jintao Hu’s important speech at the Tsinghua University Centennial Conference and the outline of education plan, and unswervingly taking the way of connotative development with the core of high quality. The tripartite construction of SUFE will certainly provide new opportunities for the development of school reform. Minister Yuan hoped that SUFE would seize the opportunity to take firmer steps toward further development.
Minister Shaochun Zhang pointed out that the agreement signed by three parties can serve as an important measure to implement the National Long-term Education Reform and Development Planning Framework. The agreement has great significance in deepening the cooperation between ministries and cities, promoting the innovation of finance-related higher education, and pushing forward the finance reform. Minister Zhang said that the Ministry of Finance will continue to be concerned for and provide support to the reform and development of SUFE.
According to the agreement, the Ministry of Education will encourage SUFE to apply for and implement the major national projects, and support SUFE to speed up the construction of high-level research university with distinct finance-and-economics characteristics. The Ministry of Finance will reinforce the guidance to SUFE’s development on many fronts.
Afterwards, President Min Tan delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. He stated that all the achievements of SUFE can not be separated from the consistent concern, guidance and support from Minister of Education, Minister of Finance and Shanghai Government. By seizing this opportunity, SUFE will revolve around the strategic needs of economic and social development, aiming to struggle for SUFE’s internationalization and developing orientation.
Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government Tiehui Weng presided over the signing ceremony. A multitude of representatives from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Shanghai Municipal Government and SUFE attended the ceremony.
