On 4 December 2022, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics held a forward-looking, strategic, and high-end academic seminar on data science with the theme of "Data Science and Business Analysis" to meet the challenge of new ethics, technology, demand, and new practice. The seminar discusses the problems and development direction of data science and business analysis, , It was held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Data Technology and Decision Frontier Science Research Base. The forum was broadcasted live online and was watched by more than 3,000 people.

At the inaugural ceremony, Professor Wei Hang, Executive Vice Dean of the Business School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Director of the Shanghai Data Technology and Decision Frontier Science Research Base explains the key issues facing scholars and the industry in the data science era from three aspects: "statistical inference method based on high dimension, high frequency, distributed data", "economic game and regulation design under data elements", and "dynamic decision theory and optimization algorithm driven by data".Forum put forward the Development Goal of the research base based on the three problems and  introduced the teachers and the members of the academic committee once again. After that, the plaque was unveiled by Professor Zheng Chunrong, Deputy Director of the Research Department of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Professor Wei Hang, Executive Vice Dean of the Business School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Director of the Shanghai Data Technology and Decision Frontier science Research Base.

Finally, Professor Wei Hang made the summary speech to this forum. Standing on a new historical begining point, he said Shanghai University of Finance and Economics has a vision of building a world-class business school with distinctive financial and economic characteristics. It holds a strategic vision ofcoping the world, the future, and modernization, and a fundamental task to build virtue and nurture people. The school will deepen intellectual and mathematical change, and innovation to actively promote the high-quality development of business education. Furthermore, it will strive to contribute more financial wisdom, and strength to the Great Revitalization of Chinese nation.
