The College of Business (COB) of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) has held the event of “Business School Face-to-face Dialogue”. The Business School Face-to-face Dialogue is a brand eventfor ideological and political education launched by the college, which provides a creative way for promoting the communication among all relevant parties of the college. The objective is to establish an extensive and diverse information sharing platform by organizing face-to-face interactions among the leaders of the college, directors of the departments, party branch secretaries, faculty and student representatives, alumni, etc. to realize the top-down link-up of ideas and information between faculty and students and create a positive and active atmosphere, and better promote the development of the College of Business.
The event of Business School Face-to-face Dialogue invited Wei Hang, COB Associate Executive Dean, Dong Jing, COB Associate Dean, and Yu Fan, COB Assistant Dean, to have interactions with students, so that students could get a better understanding of the past, present and future development of the school, and improve the sense of integrity and responsibility as a member of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and College of Business. COB Associate Executive Dean Wei Hang was the first to speak on the topic of “One hundred years of business education”. He talked about the history of the College of Business since it was relocated to Shanghai a hundred years ago, as well as the present school’sgovernance structure, student profiles, discipline construction, faculty development, international exchanges and cooperation, and so on. He highlighted the accomplishments achieved over the past 100 years, as well as the three-step development strategy of College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in the future, so that all students can clearly understand the the school. He emphasized that the vision of the College of Business was to build a world-renowned business school with distinctive financial and economic characteristics, with the mission of “cultivating business talents, creating business knowledge, transforming business practice and promoting business civilization”, while adhering to the values of integrity, diversity, responsibility, and excellence tomake more contribution to realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. .
Following that, Dong Jing, COB Associate Dean and Yu Fan, COB Assistant Dean, presented to the students on the topic of “100 years of business education” through idea exchange and round-table dialogues on the undergraduate and graduate education . Dong Jing made a presentation on the undergraduate teaching policy changes such as establishing a case study centre and developing courses through university-enterprise collaboration, hiring industry experts and senior managers into classes, organizing students to visit enterprises and so on. Yu Dianfan then introduced the present statusof graduate education inthe College of Business, including the current source of graduate students, recruitment channels and related graduate programs, as well as the current situation of graduate employment. Yu Dianfan also provided students with three pieces of advice for successful graduation: firstly, to do a good time planning, secondly, to participate in social practice and connect research with reality, and thirdly, to keep good health through physical exercise.
