The MBA & EMBA Alumni Association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) held its reorganization assembly on the afternoon of July 17 at the International Conference Center in SUFE's Science Park. Representatives from all walks of life, including MBA and EMBA alumni representatives, attended the founding assembly to witness the important moment of the reunion. Chen Xinyuan, Vice President and member of the Council of SUFE, Qingyu Yang, Deputy Secretary-General of Cooperative Development Department of SUFE, Wang Aili, Secretary-General of the MBA Alumni Association of SUFE, along with other leaders and alumni, faculty, and students from the College of Business (COB) attended the event. At the beginning, Wang Aili, Secretary-General of the MBA Alumni Association of SUFE, made a report on the cancellation of the former MBA Alumni Association of SUFE. Liu Liming, Director of the COB’s Office of Cooperative Development, reported to the assembly on the cancellation of the former EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE, and alumni representatives voted to approve the cancellation of the former MBA and EMBA Alumni Associations. Following that, the reorganization assembly of MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE began with the singing of the school song. Liu Liming reported to the conference on the preparation of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE. Yang Qingyu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Alumni Association of SUFE and the Deputy Director of the Cooperative Development Department of SUFE, announced the approval for the re-establishment of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE. The Charter of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics as well as the membership list of the first Board of Governors were passed after a show of hands. After that, the first board meeting of the re-organized MBA and EMBA Alumni Association was held, and the list of executive directors and principal directors of the Association was reviewed and voted on the spot.

In addition, the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics had its inaugural event. The newly elected president of the re-organized MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE, Wang Lanfeng, the Secretary General of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE, Jun Chen co-hosted the launch ceremony, together with Vice President Chen Xinyuan and other representatives of COB.
Wang Lanfeng, President of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of SUFE, delivered a speech at the conference. She expressed her gratitude to all the alumni who have been concerned about and provided support to the development of their alma mater. She said that, with the reorganization of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association as an opportunity, the work of the alumni association in the future will be carried out closely around the two focuses of “serving alumni and back-feeding schools”, transforming the alumni association into a bridge of communication between alumni and the alma mater, a link of emotional contact, and so on.

Jian Chen, Secretary-General of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech and reported on the recent work plans and arrangements of the Alumni Association. He said that the Alumni Association Secretariat will actively maintain interactions with the school and alumni under the unified guidance of the school and the Alumni Association, and will be the promoter of the development of the alma mater, the promoter of the alumni growth, and the inheritor of the alumni culture. The alumni association will work to pool the expertise and experience of the majority of alumni and serve as a powerful force to promote the all-round construction and development of the alma mater, resulting in mutual empowerment and symbiotic development.

Chen Xinyuan, Vice President and member of the Council of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics also made a speech. He warmly congratulated the foundation of the MBA and EMBA Alumni Association. He emphasized that the school always adheres to the concept of “a community of common destiny of the alumni of the school”, strongly supports the development of the alumni, and hopes that the newly established MBA and EMBA Alumni Association will actively strengthen the exchanges among all parties, to build a platform of information exchange, resource sharing and joint development between the alma mater and the alumni, and to encourage the deep development of the alumni resources and the coordinated development of the university’, form a positive dynamic environment in which the alma mater supports alumni and alumni back-feeds the alma mater.

Finally, the Chief Economist Forum of SUFE was held. The Forum Was Chaired by Professor Chen Zhijun, Academic Director Of The MBA Center And head of the Department of Human Resource Management atCOB of SUFE. Dr. Shao Yu, Chief Economist and Assistant President of Orient Securities, gave a keynote speech on the theme of “Post-epidemic era: Big Trends and new hopes”.

Today, the world is going througha big change in a century which has not occurred in the past century. Taking the selection of the world’s important economies as a clue, Dr. Shao Yu analyzed the changes in the world economic pattern in the post-epidemic era with detailed and accurate data. In the face of the huge challenges brought by the epidemic and the new pattern of international and domestic two-way circular development in which instability and uncertainty coexist, Dr. Shao Yu has a comprehensive outlook on China’s macro-economy, the global macro-economy, and investment allocations in the post-epidemic era, and gave development suggestions from the aspects of green development, regional coordination, rural revitalization, and scientific and technological innovation and so on.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the relocation of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in Shanghai, as well as the 100th anniversary of COB. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the MBA education of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the reorganization of SUFE’s MBA and EMBA Alumni Association is a milestone event in the history of our alumni work, and a happy event for all the alumni. It has effectively promoted the construction of the alumni association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. The Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Business School will continue to supporting the concept of “co-development of alumni and college” and work together with over 30,000 alumni to create a win-win situation.
