SUFE Business Review (Volume I) is based on the theme of Centennial Business Studies".

In China, "Centennial Business Studies" is getting a new start, with theories ranging from Porter's strategic management theory to Drucker's fundamental theories of effective management, Trout's positioning theory and Kotler's marketing theory of 10Ps. These could have a long-term impact on China's commercial development. nevertheless, China, as a country with thousands of years’ businessdevelopment and wisdom, deserves something new. Societies and ways of thinking play important roles in the modernization of businesses. In the meantime, new thoughts arise in the wake of the development of Shanghai-style culture.

Haipai culture arose. The guests we had in SUFE Business Review (Volume I), including reputable scholars, entrepreneurs, financiers and specialists in relevant areas, were asked about their understanding of Shanghai-Style and Business Studies.

Wei Hang, the chief editor, wrote thepreface, Great Minds Shall Brighten the Way Forward. In the article, Wei briefly discussed  about the historical development from SUFE’s launching of business majors, the establishment of a university of commerce, to developing to serve China's commercial modernization, and the founding SUFE Business Review. He states that the first volume of, SUFE Business Review takes the Centennial Business Studies as the theme. On the one hand, it is a symbol of respect. The evolution of the Centennial Business Studies in China and around the world can be understood better and its significance and value can be appreciated by searching through its glorious development .. On the other hand, it is about coming across something new. It is necessary to develop new business studies through reflection on the loves and hates that the business studies have received"

The first volume consists of theme articles, interviews (in the form of a interviews and dialogues), and other types of programs.

Scholars from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics as well as specialists from various fields have contributed articles on topics such as Shanghai Style, Business Studies, and Centennial SUFE. The articles include: "Is Shanghai a Lost City? The Comeback of Opening-up and Innovation Spirits", "Centennial Business Studies and the Evolution of Entrepreneurs", "Let's See How Modern China Rises Again From the Beginning of Shanghai-Style Business Studies", "Looking Back on 1917: The Handing Down and Growth of Education Philosophy of SUFE’s Centennial Business Studies", and so on. We were honored to have the opportunity to talk with some financial giants from Shanghai Stock Exchanges, Shanghai Gold Exchanges, and the banking industry, as well as the founders and CEOs of the leading enterprises in Shanghai, including Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Company Limited, Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart Co., Ltd, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc. China, and so on. Furthermore, we collected articles on the following topics:  "Take a Closer Look at the Entertainment Industry", "Manufacturing 2.0", "The Trend of Pioneer Industries", and so on.

Based on the features of Shanghai and SUFE's advantages, SUFE Business Review aims to contribute new thoughts and ideas to SUFE’s Business Studies. After much efforts, the first volume is about to be issued in October 2021.

We would like to thank specialists from many fields for their support to SUFE Business Review, as well as the editorial board, and all the faculty members and staff who worked hard for it. We will devote ourselves to developing  a research and practice platform themed on Shanghai-Style Business Studies, inviting more people to participate in the new business studies that are becoming increasingly sophisticated and scientific in the process of commercial evolution, and inspiring them to innovate and practice through in-depth reflections and discussions.
