BASIC PURPOSE OF THE POSITION – ABOUT THE JOB

1.The Commercial Finance Controller is responsible for leading their team in both the:

· Brand and Category agenda in China including leadership of the financial interventions required for brand performance, brand strategy, innovation, marketing spend and ensuring compliance and controls are applied and embedded at all times.

· Sales agenda in China including leadership of the financial interventions required for customer/channel performance, pricing, promotions and trade terms and ensuring compliance and controls are applied and embedded at all times.

2.Role is the co-pilot to the Marketing and Sales Directors, providing strong business partnership support and together, drive and execute brand / category / customer / channel business strategies.

3.Goal is to bring his/her commercial and financial skills and experience to create value, via performance management and strategy to execution.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES – WHAT YOU WILL DO

1.Supports Commercial teams in defining:

· Strategy (where to play, how to win) and valuates building blocks to deliver on brand goals across category growth, pricing, Innovation and market share growth

· Customer / channel team performance agenda. Understands key drivers and leads action to improve financial performance at Customer level across brands, investments (both promotional and A&P), pricing, and growth building blocks. Support the MBR process with insights on customer performance and lead interventions to help deliver on targets.

2.Visibly leads value creation and brings multi-functional team together to deliver on opportunities identified and goals

3.Understands Consumer, Category and Competition to “bring the outside in”. ie. Competitor performance (company, region, country levels), anticipate innovation, promo plans and P&L. Leverages deep understanding of retailer / distributor to help secure disproportionate support from our customers (business strategy, shoppers, profitability, company growth, key leaders, innovation, supports deployment of JBP).

4.Innovation financial analysis for portfolio of planned projects and post-launch tracking including tools such as Net Present Value, Price bench-marking, P&L sensitivity. Actively build on plans beyond lens of financial to maximize value and minimize risk.

5.Work with Revenue Growth Management Director to drive margin improvements through Pricing, Promotions and Trade Terms design. Drive pricing excellence via insightful analysis (Pricing architecture, case rate improvement, pricing corridors, pricing waterfalls, bench-marking, etc) for key variants. Track our Pricing position vs competition at retailer level and take action with customer teams

6.Drives Marketing and trade spend efficiency - trade terms governance, bench-marking investment levels across customer teams, budget controls and Trade Spent ROI framework including post launch learnings with actions to improve Financial delivery. Drives ROI mindset. Governs delivery of spend optimisation targets.

7.Proactively links into counterparts in other markets, regional and global teams.

8.Continuously seeks best-in-class internally and externally as benchmarks to reapply, then actively use technology to create analytics, simplify and shorten lead time

9.Drives ROI mindset and builds capability of multi-functional team on financial acumen

10.Acts as steward for company and actively engages organisation on internal controls

KNOW-HOW, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR THIS POSITION – OUR PERFECT CANDIDATE

A) Education, Qualifications and Training:

· Education: MBA preferred, Relevant Tertiary Qualifications

· Professional qualification: Member of recognized accounting body or similar qualification (international)

B) Experience required (e.g. Past Roles, Level, Years of Experience, Technical, People Management, etc.):

· 10-12 years of work experience

· Experience with working in professional and multinational company, preferably in FMCG

· Previous Commercial Finance experience preferred

· Experience of Compliance and Controls preferred

C) Specialised Knowledge or Skills required (e.g. Technical, Cross-functional, etc.):

· This role drives the brand and category performance agenda across business strategy, innovation and A&P

· Strong inter-personal skills, presence and influence to maintain effective professional relationships across all levels of the organization.

· Communicates effectively both verbal and written

· Highly analytical and able to deliver financial data in a user friendly and relevant manner

· Possesses business acumen and is keen about business drivers behind the numbers

· Deep understanding and curiosity on consumers and shoppers behaviours and what drives them

· Continually brings the outside in – consumers, customers, category, competition

· Ability to work effectively in a complex matrix environment and natural instinct to reach out to understand proactively help find ways of doing things better

· Highly self-motivated, self-start and results oriented.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and SAP ERP systems
